What a BIM Modeler is NOT responsible for ??

What a BIM Modeler is NOT responsible for (but often gets forced to do):

1️⃣ Defining BIM workflows or BEP requirements
This is the BIM Manager’s job not the modeler’s.

2️⃣ Running full coordination or clash detection
This belongs to the BIM Coordinator.
Modelers only fix clashes assigned to them, not manage the entire process.

3️⃣ Fixing the entire team’s modeling mistakes
Modelers should fix their own scope, not clean everyone’s files.

4️⃣ Managing the CDE or approvals
This is handled by the CDE Manager Or BIM manager.

5️⃣ Making design decisions
A modeler executes the design > doesn’t invent it.

⚠️Why this role is misunderstood?!⚠️

Because in many companies, when roles aren’t properly assigned, the BIM Modeler becomes:
• Draftsman
• Coordinator
• IT support
• Designer
• BIM Manager assistant

All at once.
And that’s why burnout happens.

When this structure is ignored, the BIM Modeler becomes the “dumping ground” for everything >>> quality drops.⚠️
